Don’s life will be celebrated at the Calvary United Methodist Church located at 2222 W. Indiana Ave. in Elkhart. Visitation will begin there on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 1-2 pm followed by a homegoing service at 2:00 pm. The Reverend Paul Anderson, Pastor, will officiate.
Don worked over 30 years at Coachmen Industries of Elkhart as the corporate treasurer, retiring in 2002. He was the valedictorian of his high school class and graduated in 1966 from Michigan State University with a degree in Business Administration. He was also an avid local charity volunteer, spending large amounts of time organizing and serving meals at “God’s Kitchen” with Guidance Ministries. He also sat on the board that provided financial support for those being helped by Church Community Services.
When he wasn’t working or serving out lunch to those less fortunate, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He also a huge fantasy sports fan, enjoyed watching Notre Dame Men’s Basketball, and was everyone’s favorite pick as teammate for trivia night because he knew all of the answers. Don was also an old record aficionado, as in he had amassed a collection of LP records and .45’s upwards in the neighborhood of 2000 records, and he could tell you the original color and label design of just about any album, as well as who produced it.
