Donald E. Funderburk

Donald E. Funderburk, 72,  of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at home in the comfort of his family. He was born on August 23, 1948 in Elkhart to the late William and Margaret (Connelly) Funderburk. In addition to his parents, a sister Betty Jones preceded him in death.

On April 28, 1987, at the courthouse in Goshen, Donald married his true love and best friend Ruth Naomi Watson, Ruth survives, as well as a son Donald E. Funderburk Jr. and fiancée Joyce Evans, daughter Tina (Monty) Rose, step-son Baron (Stephanie) Watson; and 4 brothers, Bill (Sandra) Funderburk, Robert (Wanda) Funderburk, Dave (Sandra) Funderburk  and Michael (Tammy) Funderburk; 6 loving grandchildren, Luke (Brittane) Rose, Austen Funderburk, Dakota Funderburk, T J Funderburk, Caroline (Joe) Ashby, Baron Watson; also 7 great grandchildren, Ethan, Jordan, Maddox, Carson, Ella, Aria and Kendra.

Donald worked many years at Cummins Onan, as a service technician and repairman. He loved driving around and he and Ruth enjoyed traveling. But most important was spending as much time as he could with his family he loved so much.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Cremation will follow. A memorial service celebrating Donald’s life will be held at a later date and will be telecast on Zoom. Check the Billings FH website for the updated time and date.
