Donald L. “Don” Brown, 85, of Bristol, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Elkhart on June 19, 1935 to the late Edwin B. and Virginia B. (Freshour) Brown.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 53 wonderful years, Doris A. “Dee” Brown; son, Byron B. (Kris) Brown; granddaughters, Libby, Ava, and Sophia Brown; and brother-in-law, Bill Roberts. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia (Glenn) Sharp, Shirley (Ernest Jr.) Dorrier, and Janet Roberts.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 10-noon at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart with a recitation of the rosary to take place from 12-12:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Fr. Bob Van Kempen of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol to officiate. Immediately following the service, entombment will take place at Rice Cemetery at the Peace Mausoleum.
Don was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather who always placed his family first. He was a hard worker and had retired from Conn-Selmer Inc in 2002 after 33 years of service as a buffer and repair man. Don was a devout Catholic who was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol. There he enjoyed going to the Adoration Chapel weekly. Don was an avid fisherman and loved to fish with his father, friends and son. He enjoyed bowling and was in several local bowling leagues. Recently, Don acquired an interest in restoring classic cars, especially his prized 1939 Plymouth. Don will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
