Don Eugene Morey

Donald “Don” Eugene Morey, 75, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Don was born on April 5, 1947, in Allegan, MI to the late Arnold and Eleanor Morey. He married the love of his life, Linda (Fry) Morey in Elkhart.

He is preceded in death by his biological mom, Marjorie Jackson and biological dad, Donald Rose; brother, Larry and sister, Teri Rose; Uncle Richard Aunt Betty Hewitt and twin brother and sister, Michael and Michelle Rose.

Don is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda; children, Jeffery (Dana) Fry, Angela (Kenny) Ottman, Lonna Gillison, Jeffrey Morey, and Traci (Jon) Nichols; 21 grandchildren and 26 great grand-children; brother, Roger (Peggy) Morey; stepbrothers, Tim and Brad Morey; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and fur babies, “Little Bit” and “Babby”.

Don worked in security for most of his life, most recently at Lochmandy Motors.

Also, the Decatur Police Department in the late 60’s, Concord Fire Department in the early 70’s, Taylor Products for 17 years and Emergency Management of Elkhart for 2 years.

He was a member of the former American Legion in Niles, MI. Don was an avid stock car and demolition derby fan. He would enjoy his times out at New Paris and Plymouth Raceway and spending time with his family and friends.

Don was a hard worker and enjoyed helping people. He was a kind man and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date. Per the family’s request, he will be cremated.
