David Michael DeGolier, 67, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Elkhart Hospice House. David was born on February 20, 1952 in San Diego to the late Gene E. and Delores Jean “Dee” (Cappelletti) DeGolier.
He married his true love Patti Poehler on May 20, 1978 in Bristol. Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Patti DeGolier; three sisters, Patti (Patrick) Cripe, Lori (Scott) Nine, Jodi (Rod) Ruch as well as several nieces, nephews and furbabies, Sophie, Roxi and a cat Sardis.
In addition to his parents, a daughter Janelle Marie DeGolier and his brother Richard DeGolier preceded him in death.
David was a 1970 graduate of Elkhart High School, it took him 30 years, but he received his BS from IUSB. He worked as a substitute teacher with Elkhart Community School Corporation and formerly worked for LaSalle-Deitch. He had many interest, including playing golf, white water rafting and running in and setting up road rallies for the Elkhart Car Club. He was a Junior Achievement Advisor and was very active, because of his daughter Janelle, in the Northern Indiana Spina-Bifida Association. He also served in the Army National Guard and was a passionate follower of Christ and enjoyed reading his bible and sharing the love of God.
Services celebrating David’s life will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Pathway Church, 13805 US-20, Middlebury, IN 46540. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Pastor Scott Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery.
