Dale Ruttschaw Life Story

Mr. Dale Eugene Ruttschaw, 76, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 following a brief illness.

He was born in Niles, Michigan on October 19, 1945 to the late Charles F. “Sonny” and Katie (Freeze) Ruttschaw Waite and is survived at home by his beloved wife, Linda S. (Mattix).

Also surviving are his children Howard (Lesley) “Chuck” Ruttschaw, Andrea, Daphne, Debbie and Donna Ruttschaw and Pam (Henry) Emerson, and a huge host of grand and great grandchildren, as well as loving extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Lyerla and a brother, Ron Ruttschaw.
Dale graduated Edwardsburg High School and worked for the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Elkhart for over 20 years. He was an avid Honda Goldwing aficionado and enjoyed riding around to several of the local watering holes, where he enjoyed shooting darts and catching up on all of the “dirt” involving all of his friends. He was also a member of ABATE, he was a  talented sketch artist, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.


Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart are grateful to have been selected by the Ruttschaw family to assist in Dale’s cremation arrangements. No immediate services or rites have been scheduled. Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
