Carol J. Byrket, 90, of Wakarusa, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa. She was born on September 10, 1930 in Elkhart to the late Eldred D. and Ethel Mae (Mott) Dills.
Carol is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” E. Byrket; sister, Lorraine Bender; and brother, Bert Dills. She is survived by her children, Dennis Byrket of Elkhart, Debra Milner of Elkhart, and David (Laurie) Byrket of Wakarusa; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 with a service to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Keith McFarren of Bethel United Methodist Church officiating at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. Immediately following the service, a burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Please follow proper social distancing procedures and please bring a face mask to wear inside the building at all times. Carol worked as secretary for Hackney Inc. in Elkhart before retiring in 1995. She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” E. Byrket on June 3, 1950 and shared 64 wonderful years together before his passing in September of 2014. Carol was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church serving as a president of United Methodist women, chairman of worship and music, and a member of the pastor’s staff. Her favorite activity was sewing and embroidering. She also loved to plant beautiful flowers in her garden and read from time to time. Carol will be missed by her loving family and many friends.
