Also surviving are his children Erika Moore, Cindy Moore and William (Jennifer) Moore, all of Elkhart; sister Mary (Orin) Kilmer of Monroe, OH; grandchildren Matthew Moore, Christopher Moore, Tyler (Jamie) Moore and Nicholas (Vicki) Moore and Sharon Stewart and Emilie Stewart, as well as 8  great grandchildren and many loving extended family, church family and good friends. Brothers Milton “Bud” Moore and Paul Alford; sisters Colleen Ott and Patricia Runyon and step-mother Alice (Kemp) Moore, who loved and cared for Bill and his siblings after his father passed, preceded Bill in death.

Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart are hosting a private family visitation on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, followed by a private graveside service and burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Elkhart. Pastor Kerry Clear of Elkhart’s Hillcrest United Methodist Church will officiate the services.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 E. Bristol St., Elkhart, IN.

Bill worked for nearly 40 years at Miles Laboratories in Elkhart and was in shipping and receiving when he retired. He also was in the Quarter Century Club and served as a union steward. He was also a charter member of the Hillcrest United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the church’s choir. Additionally, he was a member of Elkhart Moose Lodge #599. He enjoyed sports and coached his son’s little league teams over the years.  He was a United States Army veteran, serving in Anchorage, Alaska as a vehicle driver.

Bill enjoyed relaxing with his family and grandchildren. He loved golfing and bowling. He especially enjoyed Elkhart Central High School and loved attending their footfall and basketball games. He was also a life long Cubs fan as well. In his later years, Bill grew fond of watching the birds come to his favorite sitting window, where he maintained several bird feeders. Also, a special thanks to all of the caring neighbors who looked after Bill in his later years. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Bill’s memory may be given to the Hillcrest United Methodist Church or to the Elkhart Salvation Army. Thank you so much for your interest in Bill’s life story!
