Betty L. (Lyon) Newman Overton

Betty Newman-Lyon-Overton, 92, of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at East Lake Terrace Assisted Living.

Betty was born on June 6, 1928 to the late Raymond and Myrtle (Mast) Newman in Nappanee, IN.

Betty is preceded in death by her son, Roger Lyon and sister, Shirley Troyer.

Betty is survived by her children, Sally (Jack) Christeon of Elkhart and Craig Lyon of Peachtree City, GA; brother, Larry (Nancy) Newman of Georgia; grandchildren, Jack Christeon III, Julie Christeon and Erica Shamrock; great grandchildren, Braden and Camrynn Hoover and Riley and Bentley Shamrock.

Betty was a graduate of Elkhart High School. She was a quality control inspector with Miles Laboratory and Bayer Co., for 30 years. Betty was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge 599 and Dunlap United Methodist Church. She loved travelling the world and going on cruises. Betty was known to winter in Palisades, Florida. She enjoyed dancing especially line dancing, listening to music and going to the casino.

Betty’s family would like to thank the entire staff at East Lake Terrace Assisted Living and Heart to Heart Hospice for their love and support.

There will be no visitation or services for Betty at this time. Cremation was chosen. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
