Betty J. Moore

Betty Jo Moore, 82, of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Elkhart Meadows Nursing Home. She was born in Crown Hill, WV on September 1, 1938 to the late Frank and Sadie (Pritt) Morris.

Betty was the last of the fourteen brothers and sisters in her family. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, David G. Moore Jr.; son, Ray S. Moore; infant daughter, Cindy Lou Moore; and grandchildren, David R. Moore, Rachel L. Moore, and Ryan Haukaas. Betty is survived by her sons, David L. (Ann Marie) Moore and John A. Moore; daughters, Sandy K. Kilgren and Betty A. (Chuck) Sulok; grandchildren, Bradley Moore, Allie Sulok, Alesha Moore, Rachel Haukaas, and Steven Ray Moore; and great grandchildren, Joel and Arianna Hans.

A private family visitation will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart followed by a graveside service at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.  

Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who loved the Lord and was strong in her faith. She worked for many years at Santress Draperies where she made curtains. Betty married the love of her life, David G. Moore Jr. on November 6, 1954 in West Virginia. She was a long-time member of the Parker City Fellowship and a recent member of Servant’s Heart Community Church in Elkhart. The family would like to thank the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, 911 first responders, and Oslo Fire Department for going above and beyond the call of duty when it came to helping Betty during her time of need. We thank you for your patience and exceptional care of our mother.
