Barbara J Cassity

Barbara J. Cassity, 59, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart following an extended illness on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 at 6:00 pm.

She was born in Elkhart on May 7, 1959 to the late William and Helen (Smith) Faught, and is also preceded in death by siblings Mark and Rex Faught and Kenda McCarroll. She later married Carl Cassity on May 6, 1978 and he survives her at home.

Also surviving are children Linda (Roy) Flowers and Teresa Ann (Ray) Flowers; grandchildren Monica and Gabrielle Flowers and William and Dustin Cassity; brothers Randy and Billy Faught and her beloved therapy dog Taz, who remained faithfully at Barbara’s side throughout her illness.

Services will be held at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elkhart on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 at 8:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 6 pm. Pastor Carl Henry of Elkhart’s Northside Baptist Church will officiate and cremation will follow the services.

Barbara worked at Rocket Car Wash for many years and was a member of the former Elkhart Church of God (now “That Church” on CR 4). She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren and enjoyed caring for her birds and Taz. In her free time, she enjoyed doing puzzles and coloring books using multiple shades of purple.

Memorial donations may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
