Arthur D. Butler

Arthur D. Butler, 95, of Elkhart, died Thursday March 4, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Elkhart on July 24, 1925, one of 10 children born to (the late) Ralph and Margeurite (Mack) Butler. Arthur served his country proudly in the US Navy and was a veteran of WWII. On August 6, 1963, he married Clara (Stacy) Butler and she survives after 57 years of marriage. Arthur retired as a Project Engineer for Miles Laboratories. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing & hunting; he was devoted to his family and cherished the time he spent with family & friends. In addition to his wife Clara, Arthur is also survived by their children, Raymond (Lisa) Butler of Milford, MI and Jessica Butler of Elkhart; grandchildren, David Butler & Nicole Butler, both of Milford MI, Christopher Shirley of Elkhart and Dalton (fiancé Katelyn Blankenship) Shirley of Goshen; great-grandchildren, Michael Arthur Orange and Hunter Shirley, both of Elkhart; brother, Ralph (Carolyn) Butler of Elkhart and sister, Blanche Chaplin of Greenfield.  He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Sandra Herald, Joann Burns & Phyllis Estes and 4 brothers, Bud Butler, John Butler, Kenny Butler and Donald Butler. Graveside Service 11:00 Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Rice Cemetery, 400 James Street, Elkhart.
