Alvin Ray Gill

Alvin Ray Gill, age 58, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

He was born January 31st, 1965, in Birmingham, AL. His childhood home where he grew up was in Elkhart IN. He graduated from Jimtown High School in 1983. Ray worked several years with the Indiana Department of Transportation and Marion County Sheriff's dept. He also served as the maintenance director for Autozone prior to his death. He took up part-time work as a bouncer and security officer at several clubs in the area. He loved music and Dj-ing. He was skilled in auto-mechanics. He was a diehard Chicago Bears fan, an avid car enthusiast, and loved his gadgets. Words cannot express how greatly he will be missed.

Preceding Alvin in death are his biological mother, Dorothy Mae Wooten; adopted parents, Charles and Lena Gill, Wife, Sandra Gill, Son, Alexander Gill; Brothers, Charles Edward Wooten, Robert Bernard Wooten and Otis Starks and Sister, Rosa Mae Anderson.

Surviving children include Elisha Smith and Tyrese Gill of Indianapolis, IN and Triston Jon Ray Gill and Natasha Smith of South Bend, IN; girlfriend, Marlina Gentry of W. Frankfort, Illinois; siblings, Beverly (Carlton) Jones of Greenville, NC., Patricia (Willie) Harper, Josephine Ruffin, Alberta (Kennedy) Taylor, Rose Nave of Richmond, VA, Jesse Gay, Willie Clayton Wooten of Birmingham, AL, Michael Ray (Maureen) Wooten of Rochester, MN, and R. Jerome (Jean) Gill of Elkhart, IN; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends!!!

A visitation for Alvin will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home in Indianapolis. A graveside service will occur Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at New Grace Hill Cemetery, 1931 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Birmingham, AL 35211.
