ELKHART - Allen R. Perkey, 64, passed away Tuesday morning, February 5, 2019 in his home surrounded by family. Allen was born on February 22, 1954, the son of Jack Raymond and Velda (Strope) Perkey. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rhonda A Perkey, whom he married on March 20, 1983; daughter Rachael (Derek) Polston; sons, Jason (Sheena) Jacobs, Shane Perkey, Terry (Hannah) Perkey; 8 grandchildren; with one on the way, Hannah and MaKenna Betzer, Rylan and Drew Polston, Trenton, Julius and Julian Jacobs and Skye Perkey; brother Doug (Kim) Perkey, sisters Paula (Phil) Danley and Sandy Nolte.
In addition to his parents, a sister Linda Perkey preceded him in death.
Allen was a true definition of a Jimtown Jimmie, where he graduated in 1973. Allen had a special love for Jimtown football and wrestling. He loved coaching his sons and was one of the first coaches of the Jimtown Rocket Football League and started the first ever Jimtown Wrestling Club. He worked as a commercial floor installer, with Carpenters Local 413 for Midwest Tile & Interiors, Inc. for 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. Allen was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sprint car racing. He spent many summers with his family enjoying Leech Lake in Walker, MN. He loved spending time with his family, hosting many hog roasts and fish fries.
Services celebrating Allen’s life will begin at 6:00 pm Monday, February 11, at Billings Funeral Home, Friends may visit with the family beginning at 4:00 pm. Pastor Clint Schwartz of Lighthouse Vineyard Church, Elkhart will officiate. Cremation was chosen, with burial at a later date at Olive West Cemetery.
