Obituary
Zita J. Went, 90, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, April 24, at the Elkhart Hospice House.
She was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Kolbermoor, Germany, to Franz X. and Maria (Festner) Landsmann.
On April 17, 1952, she married the late Rolla M. Went. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Zita (Dennis) Pontius of Elkhart and Deborah (Devon) Helmuth of Goshen; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Joyce Darlington of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William Went; and three brothers.
Zita worked for several years as a seamstress and dedicated homemaker.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 599. Zita attended Calvary Assembly of God Church.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1010 E. Mishawaka Road, Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Calvary Assembly of God Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor Brian Whidden will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery in Middlebury.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care in memory of Zita Went.
