Obituary
BRISTOL -- Wilson K. "Bill" Adams, 76, of Bristol, passed away at 12:03 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 15, 2011) at The Maples at Waterford Crossing Healthcare Campus in Goshen after a brief illness.
Born March 14, 1934, in Harlan County, Ky., to Raleigh and Mary Ann (Baker) Adams, he later married Bonnie K. Roebuck in Huntington in 1966. She survives at home.
Also surviving are three sons, Donald D. (Tammy Dovel) and Christopher K. (Lisa) Adams, both of Goshen, and John R. (Rhonda Harris) Adams of Bristol; a daughter, Angie M. (Wendell Fetters) Altenhof of Goshen; a brother, Hobart (Jane) Adams of London, Ky.; a sister, Delphia (Mike) Mease of Chandler, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Mac, Robert and Roscoe Adams; a sister, Elsie Cornett; a son, Brian Adams; and a grandson, Aaron L. Adams.
A celebration of Bill's life will take place at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old C.R. 17, Goshen. Pastors Brent Poe and Jack McGlasson will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol.
Bill served as a cook in the U.S. Navy, then as head chef for the former Bob & Dave's Show Lounge in Huntington for more than 30 years. He was able to make just about anything and was renowned for his homemade apple dumplings and his baked spaghetti. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family at Salamonie Reservoir in Huntington and spending time with his sidekick of 18 years, "Smokey" the cat, who will be laid to rest with Bill after the faithful friends passed away within hours of each other. Naturally, memorial donations may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
