ELKHART — William R. "Bill" Middleton, 64, of Elkhart, passed away Friday evening, March 15, 2013, in his home, following a three-year battle with cancer.
Bill was born on Sept. 19, 1948, in Victor, W.Va., to the late John Everett and Lucille (Tomlinson) Middleton.
He married the love of his life, Carrie Mae Durbin, on Nov. 27, 1971, in Elkhart.
She survives as well as his two sons, William R. II (Mitsuko) Middleton of Okinawa, Japan, and Gregory A. Middleton of Elkhart; three grandsons, William R. Middleton III, Sage Takuma Middleton and Ewan Shun Middleton, all of Okinawa; brothers John Middleton of Victor, Gary (Judy) Middleton of Ansted, W.Va., and Ralph (Debra) Middleton of Victor; sisters Tisha Stephens of Sophia, W.Va., Rose (Tim) Browning and Lilly (Paul) Leg, both of Victor; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, two brothers preceded him in death.
Bill worked at Mor/Ryde International as a welder for 35 years, retiring in October 2012. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers, and traveling and camping with his wife, Carrie.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Cremation will follow. Funeral services will be private. Pastor Mike A. Cramer of New Life Baptist Church in Osceola will officiate. Burial will be at a future date in the Middleton family cemetery in Victor.
