ELKHART — William Paul "Bill" Templeton, 66, of Elkhart, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Valley View/Kindred Health Care Center of Elkhart after an extended illness.
He was born on March 20, 1946, in Phillipsburg, N.J. to Clarence and Emma (Bidewell) Templeton.
He later married Cynthia L. "Cindy" Waid on Feb. 22, 1974, in Elkhart. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his daughters, Juanita M. (Joseph) Heckman of Elkhart and Bonita R. (Nicholas) Sparrow of Lagrange; his father, Clarence (Judy) Templeton of Goshen; three granddaughters; six brothers; and three sisters.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Emma, a brother and a sister.
Visitation will start at noon Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m., all at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart. In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral. Military honors will be rendered at the funeral home by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV Post 19.
Bill worked for more than 25 years at the Selmer company of Elkhart building wooden Oboes. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam as a combat medic.
