Obituary
William L. "Bill" Haggerty, 82, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.
He was born in Elkhart on June 4, 1934 to the late Lesko and Bertha Haggerty and later married Janice (Mengas) Chrisman in Elkhart in 1965. She died in 1991.
Surviving are sons Lewis and Bill (Kathy) Haggerty, Jr., both of Elkhart; daughters Linda Painton of Monticello and Linda Anderson of Bristol, and two grandsons. A brother, Clyde Haggerty, precedes Bill in death.
In accordance with his wishes, Bill is to be cremated. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
Bill retired from Plumrose of Elkhart after 34 years. He was also an accomplished outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He found peace and solstice in the woods and would often spend long hours there gathering food to feed his family and friends.
Memorial donations may go to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
