ELKHART — William L. "Bill" Hawley, 64, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1947, in Saginaw, Mich., to Lt. Col. Jack and Marta (Mueller) Hawley.
Surviving are his sons, Mark Hawley and Scott (Tina) Hawley of Elkhart; two granddaughters, Alexis and Jaimee Hawley at home; nieces Johanna (Stephen) Moore and her son Thomas, and Myra Caires. A sister, Marta Kay Hawley Kamalii of Sun City, Calif., survives as well.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Robert and Russell Hawley.
Bill was a 1969 graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in biochemistry. He worked at Miles Laboratories (Bayer) as a biochemist for 24 years. He enjoyed playing chess and bridge.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place at Altera Cremation Services.
