BRISTOL — William E. "Bill" Lowell, 69, of Bristol, passed away Tuesday, April 1, at Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Elkhart to Charles R. and Thelma M. (Cunningham) Lowell.
Survivors include two brothers, Gary (Tonda) Lowell of Bristol and Mike (Pat) Lowell of Elkhart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Lowell; and four sisters, Shirley Minegar, Sharon Lowell, Patty Blackburn and Barb Marshall.
Bill was a 1962 graduate of Concord High School. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1962 until 1965.
He was self-employed as a cabinetmaker for several years and later worked as a journeyman electrician prior to his retirement.
Bill was a member of American Legion Post 143 and a life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19 in Elkhart.
He loved spending time with family and friends, watching football and basketball and often enjoyed fishing. Bill had a generous spirit and enjoyed helping others.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Prairie Street Cemetery. The U.S. Army Funeral Honor Detail and DAV Chapter 19 will render military honors. A gathering of family and friends followed by a luncheon will be from noon until 2 p.m. at DAV Chapter 19, 1205 Middleton Run Road, Elkhart.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Bill's wishes were for donations to be made to Elkhart Hospice House "so they (Elkhart Hospice House) will always be there for others."
