Obituary

William "Bill" Charles Devan, 81, of Nappanee, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Goshen Hospital. He was born on December 31, 1941, in Salem, OH, to the late Wilbur and Mildred (Nolan) Devan.

Bill is survived by his loving children, Pamela (Shean) Strong, and Thomas "Tom" (Kristi) DeVan; grandchildren, Tim, Chris, Sam, Steven, Jenn (Bob), Jon, Sam, Steph, Kody, and Kyra; special great-grandchildren, Zaria, Deklin, and Sage "Skyla"; 12 additional great-grandchildren; beloved kitty cat, Piper; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, former spouse and loving mother to his children, Donna (Krick) Devan; grandchildren, Kayla, Geoffry, and Bryan; and great-grandchildren, Alix, Ceri, and Harlynn.

In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation has been chosen and the family will hold a celebration of life gathering at a later date. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill held various positions throughout his life, the most notable being his time at the Bureau of Land Management in California where he would assist in fighting fires all across the state.

In his spare time, Bill enjoyed going on walks, spending time with his grandchildren, and coloring pictures for others to enjoy.

Bill will best be remembered as a friendly, sweet, funny, and kind soul who took pride in making others laugh and smile. He, along with all the love and joy he shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life.
