July 9, 1928 - Sept. 13, 2012

BRISTOL — William Adler "Bill" Story, 84, of Bristol, passed into heaven Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born on July 9, 1928, to Willie O. and Faye Jean (Reeves) Story in Batesville, Ark. On Jan. 1, 1949, he married the love of his life for 63 years, Bonnie L. Ormsby, in Markle.

He served his country in the U.S. Marine Reserves.

Bill had owned Tri-State Service Center Inc., Elkhart, a mobile home transportation and set-up company, since retiring 20 years ago from Skyline Corporation.

Surviving along with his wife, Bonnie, are a daughter Brenda J. Rigley of Elkhart, daughter and son-in-law Connie K. and Stephen M. Caligiuri, and son and daughter-in-law Kenneth A. and Brenda K. (Rose) Story, all of Bristol, daughter and son-in-law Ronda F. and David A. Griner of Marcellus, Mich., and Fonda R. and Derek W. Webb of Elkhart.

Bill was "Grandpa and Papa" to 12 grandchildren who absolutely adore him. Jennifer K. (Story) (Chief Warrant Officer 3 Joshua A.) Marner of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Cassondra "Cassi" A. (Rigley) (Jeff S.) Stutsman of Elkhart, Kenneth A. Story Jr. and Michael W. "Mickey" (Amanda "Mandy" L.) Caligiuri, both of Bristol, Nicole M. (Cataldo) (Timothy R.) Gallen of Phoenix, Brianne H.L. (Caligiuri) (Deric) Poorman of Cassopolis, Mich., Vyctoria "Tori" I.G. (Griner) (Sgt. Timothy A.) Spansail of Lexington, Ky., Senior Airman Travis D. Griner of Kalamazoo, Mich., Brytani B.F. Griner of Michigan, Benjamin J. L. Griner (fiancée Crystal L. Henderson) of Marcellus, and Wheaton W. and Caleb S. Webb, both of Elkhart.

In his mind there were no finer jewels than his 13 great-grandchildren, LET 2 Cpl. Duncan C. and Bailey J. Lowery, Carmen R. Marner, all of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Jessica M., Jacquelyn T.A., Kaylin R. and Joseph M. Stutsman, all of Elkhart, Breanna M. and Marcus A.W. Story, Ethan R. and Stevie Lynn Caligiuri, all of Bristol, and Ashton A. and Peyton J. Griner, both of Elkhart. He had many extended family members he considered a blessing to be related to.

One of Bill's favorite activities in recent years had been to host Sunday morning breakfast for any family and friends who wished to stop by. He also enjoyed working on his lawn, flowerbeds and vegetable garden with his faithful companion, Angel, his chow, at his side.

Preceding him to heaven were his parents; sister Almadean; brother Edgar L.; son-in-law Joseph C. Rigley; and grandchildren Rachel A. and Vincent P. Cataldo.

Bill always considered Monday through noon on Saturday as "The Standard Work Week." Keeping that in mind, a gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A short prayer service at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Bob VanKempen will conclude the evening. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow. Burial will be at a later date in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol.
