ELKHART - A memorial service for William C. "Bill" Achterberch will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Riverview General Baptist Church, 1201 E. Indiana Ave., Elkhart. Pastor Robert "Bob" Wood will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, has been assisting the family. Mr. Achterberch, 58, of 28037 C.R. 16, died at 4:35 a.m. April 2, 2007, in Beverly Living Center in Elkhart after an extended illness. He worked in parking and traffic control at several locations in the Chicago area, including Navy Pier and at the parking garage at Midway Airport, for more than 16 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found exploring area parks or the Cook County Forest Preserve. He was an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs and White Sox fan.
