William "Bill" A. Banks, 58, of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Parkview North Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Bill is survived by his former wife and caregiver, Gail (Young) Banks of Elkhart; daughters, Chelsea, Chloee and Ashley Banks, all of Elkhart; brother, Bobby Banks and sister, Shiela (Mike) Andrews, both of Bremen; 5 grandchildren, Tyler and Addyson Guzman and Nathan, Aiverie and Gabriel Banks; one great grandchild on the way; mother-in-law, Imogene Young of Mesa, AZ; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dog, Piper.
Bill was born on November 10, 1963, to the late William H. Banks and Anna Louise (Cox) Banks in Hazard, KY. He graduated from Bremen High School, where he was a linebacker for the Lions. He proudly served his country as an Army Ranger stationed in Ft. Jackson. Most recently, Bill worked in maintenance returns and he was a forklift driver for Lippert Co. He was also a former owner of Banks Cleaning Co. Bill was a hard worker who took great pride in providing for his family.
In his spare time, he enjoyed guns, fishing and watching football, especially cheering on his favorite team the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed watching Patrick Mahomes play and collecting football cards. Bill was a loyal friend and supportive of attending his grandchildren's after school activities. He was a fun- loving man and would love to joke around with people, just for laughs.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held at a later date. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
