ESTERO, Fla. — Willard F. "Bill" Williams, 95, of Estero, Fla., formerly of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Florida.
Bill was born March 16, 1921, in Chicago, to the late Dr. William and Olga (Falkenburg) Williams.
Bill received his bachelor's from the University of Illinois and then attended Northwestern University School of Law for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy after Pearl Harbor.
The Navy sent him to Supply Officers School at Harvard Business School for a year before he served as an officer in all three theaters, European, Pacific and Asiatic on different ships.
Bill returned for his third year in law school and graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 1948.
Bill worked in private practice for a while and then founded Williams Products Inc. in Elkhart, a manufacturer of bathroom vanities and other components for the housing and mobile home markets from 1955 until he sold the company in 1970.
Bill was a charter member of the Elcona Country Club and was an avid reader. He moved to Estero in 2001.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella Dooney; stepson Keith Dooney; a stepgrandson; two sons, Timothy C. Williams and Joseph H. Williams, both of Elkhart; two grandchildren, John (Angelica) Williams and Jenny (Joseph) Fults; and a great-grandson, Alexander Williams.
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Margery Williams; daughter Cynthia Williams; grandson Jeffrey Williams; daughter-in-law Marla Williams; and stepson Kevin Dooney.
In honoring his wishes, cremation was chosen in Florida.
