ELKHART -- Willa June Harris, 51, of 2103 Miller St., Elkhart, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday (April 20, 2010) at home after an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 23, 1959, to the late William A. "Bill" Swoape and Marjorie June Whitmeyer.

Surviving are her former spouse and father of their children, Roy Harris of Edwardsburg, Mich.; sons Brad L. Harris of Tuscon, Ariz. and Gordon O. Melchi at home; daughter Jessicca J. Harris of Leonidas, Mich.; brother David L. (Vickie L.) Jordan of Goshen; and sisters Debi L. Coody of Goshen and Judith A. Reid of Augusta, Ga. She was preceded in death by brothers Tom and Billy Jordan.

Willa worked years alongside her mother at Bacon Hill Judd's drugstore's food counter. She attended Spring Arbor University at Glen Oaks, Mich., where she received a degree in social work.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 5 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Dale Turner will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
