He was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Newaygo County, Mich., to Edgar and Lydia (Strawser) Witmer.

He is survived by a daughter, Julia A. Witmer of Elkhart; a son, Robert E. "Bob" Witmer of Elkhart; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation has taken place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.
