Obituary

Wesley Kyle "Wes" Merrill, 40, of Elkhart, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Esther House in Elkhart. He was born in South Bend, IN on October 9, 1984, to Randy and Michelle Merrill, who survive him.

Wes is also survived by his loving wife, Jena Nicole (Lauver) Merrill; son, Wesley "Kyle" Merrill Jr.; siblings, Luke (Lauren) Merrill, Lauren Kelly; and Evan Merrill; mother/father-in-law, Leslie and Tim Lauver; brother-in-law, Chris (Beth) Lauver; and nephews and nieces, Henry and Zander Kelly, Dylan, Rylee, and Keely Lauver.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A Memorial Mass will take place at the funeral home on Friday, January 10, 2025, at noon with Father Bob Van Kempen of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church officiating with an hour of visitation prior from 11 a.m. to noon. Memorial donations may be made to the Center of Hospice Care c/o Esther House, 501 Comfort Pl, Mishawaka, IN 46545. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date in Highland Cemetery.

Wes was a loving family man who's love and faith in the Lord kept him strong throughout his life. He worked for Bimbo Bakeries as a line lead and prior to that a meat cutter at Martins for many years. No job was too small or too big for him to do! He was an incredible chef and was known for his award-winning hot chili! He enjoyed spending time in nature, especially on bike rides with his family on the Pumpkin Vine trail and building large bonfires. Nothing brought him more joy than to spend time with his wife and son, family and friends. Wes enjoyed participating in his son's first T-ball season and the Trail Seekers Club at First Baptist Church. In his spare time, he loved riding around in his beloved truck "The Dulley" and cheering on his favorite teams, the White Socks, Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame. Wes will be dearly missed.
