ELKHART — Mr. Wayne A. Yoder, 64, of Elkhart, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart after an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Elkhart to the late Raymond S. and Waneta M. (Alwine) Yoder, and married Pamela S. "Pam" Williams on Apr. 3, 1971, in Elkhart, where she survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Kristen R. (Kendrick Sr.) Jordan of Elkhart; son Jeremy W. (Shelley) Yoder of South Bend; sisters Darlene (Rick) Pirtle of Elkhart and Marilyn (Scott) Croninger of Union, Mich.; his brother, Jerry D. Alwine of Petersburg, Va.; and grandchildren Brionna Barnett, Antwaan Allen, Kendrick Jordan, Jr., and Michaela and Anna Yoder.
A celebration of Wayne's life will begin with a visitation at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2222 W. Indiana Ave., Elkhart, with visitation beginning there at 10 a.m. Calvary's Pastor Laurence "Larry" Smith and Pastor Rick Pirtle of Riverview General Baptist Church of Elkhart will officiate. Burial will follow services at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart, where military graveside honors will be rendered by the U.S. Air Force Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV Post 19.
Wayne was a draftsman for Miles Laboratories and Bayer, A.G. for more than 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attended many of their sporting and theatrical events. He was also a fan of Notre Dame's women's basketball and served in the U.S. Air Force.
