Obituary

Wayne Roy Myers, 87, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Wayne was born on June 27, 1938, in Syracuse, Indiana, to the late Leonard and Vera (Mitchell) Myers. On December 6, 1968, he married the love of his life, Sharon Myers, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sharon Myers: sister, Ruth (Ken) Bailey of Elkhart; daughters, Theresa (Rob) Wargon and Susan (Jim) Case, both of Elkhart; stepdaughter, Tami Maier of Elkhart; stepson, Michael Maier of Chicago, Illinois; several grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Don Bachman.

Throughout his life, Wayne was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. In his early years, he worked at Whitehall Laboratories in Elkhart and later for Inland Distributing. He eventually purchased his own truck and spent many years delivering recreational vehicles throughout the country. Later, he worked for Central Transport and Wells Cargo before relocating to Richmond, Virginia, where he continued his career and ultimately retired from A.H. Robins in 2002.

Later that year, Wayne and Sharon relocated back to Elkhart, Indiana, to be closer to family and friends. During retirement, they enjoyed many wonderful winters together in Arizona, creating cherished memories and lasting friendships.

Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. National Guard. He was a 32 Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge.

Wayne loved the outdoors and found great enjoyment in fishing, water skiing, and camping. He was a hardworking man with a spirited personality and could be ornery at times—a trait that those who knew and loved him will fondly remember.

Above all, Wayne was a devoted and loyal husband who cherished his wife, Sharon, and remained faithfully by her side throughout their life together.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
