ELKHART — Warren Clyde Chism, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Elkhart.
He was born July 31, 1930, in Detroit to Clyde A. and Ethel (Parrish) Chism.
On Aug. 28, 1954, he married the love of his life, Loretta J. (Pfeiffer) Chism in Hillsdale, Mich.
In addition to his wife survivors include a son, David Warren (Margaret) Chism of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter Joselyn Raye (Earl) Huxhold of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Blake Edward Hill of St. Louis, Alexandra S. (Jeremy) Stacy of Grand Rapids and John "Jack" Chism of San Francisco; and three great-grandchildren, Finn, Winn and Wren Stacy, all of Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Helen Davis.
Warren was a graduate of Hillsdale High School, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Warren was employed as a railroad conductor for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1993.
The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 3300 Benham Ave., Elkhart. Pastor Andrea Hickey will officiate. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Evergreen Cemetery in Osseo, Mich.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
