ELKHART – Virginia G. Sylvia, 89, died Tuesday April 10, 2018.

She was born April 24, 1928 in Montgomery, AL. She lived primarily in Vero Beach, FL and Raleigh, NC before moving to Elkhart in 1994. She retired to Wilmington, NC in 2004, returning to Elkhart in 2012. For the past year, she lived at the Brentwood Retirement Community.

Virginia loved the beach and traveling. A highlight of her life was working in Israel for three years. In Elkhart, she worked as a secretary for Elkhart County Probation and for the family business, Foam Technology.  She attended Faith United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (James) Miller of Elkhart; son, John M (Doug Terry) Sylvia Jr. of Charlotte, NC; one grandson, Ryan (Rebekah) Bounds of Angola, IN; three great-granddaughters, Isabella, Elaina, and Emmerson Bounds; her sister, Mary Franklin of Timonium, MD, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Fox and Mary Grantham; her brother, William Fox Grantham, Jr.; and one grandson, Chris Bounds.

Arrangements under the care of Billings Funeral Home. Friends and family will gather at Brentwood at 3 p.m. Thursday April 19 to share remembrances.
