IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Elizabeth
(Hohl) Allen
December 22, 1940 – July 5, 2023
Virginia Elizabeth Allen, 82, of Osceola, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Franciscan Health in Crown Point, IN. She was born in Ashley, IN on December 22, 1940, to the late Henry and Erna Mae (Birk) Hohl.
Virginia is survived by her three daughters, Mary (Mason) Murphy of Crown Point, Alice (Keith) Allen-Evans of Minnesota, and Stacey (Dan) Spencer of Elkhart; son, Tim Allen of Osceola; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Jean) Hohl and Steve (Mary) Hohl; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Willard M. Allen; brother, Robert Hohl; and son-in-law, Dan Spencer.
Virginia was an independent, fun loving, and strong woman who worked for many years as a cook at the Bristol St. Café in Elkhart. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and playing soft ball. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for her daughter's troop where she would take them camping, much to her chagrin.
Virginia married the love of her life, Willard "Bud" Allen, on November 13, 1959, and they spent 53 wonderful years together before his passing on July 6, 2013. Virginia enjoyed the years she spent by his side and took pride in the garden Bud planted for them. Family meant the world to Virginia and she loved to spend time with them every chance she had, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St in Elkhart. Cremation was chosen and she will be laid to rest with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
