ELKHART -- Virginia Dean Hill, 73, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital. She had been in ill health.
She was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Manchester, Tenn., to the late Thurman and Bernadine (Swan) Norment. On Sept. 2, 1954, she married Samuel "Sam" Hill in Tennessee. He survives, as well as daughters Vicki (William) Ayers-Goorhouse and Judy D. Hill and son Gary D. Hill, all of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A sister, Carol (Dave) Bachert of Bristol, and brothers Tommy (Trudy) Norment and Edmund (Diane) Norment, both of Bristol, also survive.
She was preceded in death by daughter Marla Ishmael; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
Virginia worked at the Gemeinhardt Co. for close to 40 years. Virginia collected angels, enjoyed gardening, cooking, being outdoors and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Friends may also call one hour prior to Thursday's 11 a.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home with the Rev. Victor Burson officiating. Burial will follow at Olive West Cemetery, Elkhart.
