GOSHEN — Virginia J. Garberick, 88, of Goshen, passed away following an extended illness at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
She was born in Elkhart County on Aug. 15, 1926, to the late Merle D. and Bertha (Decker) Stouder.
She married Devon E. Garberick on Feb. 14, 1942, in Elkhart. He passed away in Elkhart in 2006.
Surviving are her sons, Devon Jr. (Wanda) Garberick of Phoenix, Dean (Jill) Garberick of Avon, Larry (Sue) Garberick of Coronado, Calif., and Ron (Rose) Garberick of Goshen; her brother, Chuck (Verna) Stouder of Little Rock, Ark.; sister, Mary (Dave) McCarty of Elkhart; a sister-in-law, Sandy Stouder of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Merle Stouder Jr., and a sister, Ruby Duncan.
A celebration of Virginia's life is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the 1 p.m. funeral. Pastor Zachary Snyder will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
Virginia worked at CTS for nearly 40 years. She was a very family-oriented person and enjoyed family get-togethers, vacations and spending time with the grandchildren.
