He was born May 14, 1926, in Elkhart to Ansel R. Sailor and Anna L. Eppers. He married Annie Doris Reese on July 5, 1991, in Elkhart.
She survives along with two daughters, Dianne (Buddy) Stewing and Tammy Jo Hunt, both of Elkhart; four sons, Larson R. (Sandy) Sailor and Paul W. (Ann) Sailor, both of Mottville, Mich., Dennis J. (Sue) Hunt of Bristol and Michael L. Hunt of Elkhart; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Sailor of Elkhart; and two brothers, Dale W. Sailor of Constantine, Mich., and Clyde Sailor of Corydon.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Victor, Robert, George, Albert, Clem and Edward Sailor; and one sister, Martha Sailor.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard Hill Estates, 28070 C.R. 24, as well as an hour before the 10 a.m. service Wednesday at the Hubbard Hills Estates chapel. Pastor E. Wayne Speicher will officiate, and burial will be at Olive Cemetery.
Mr. Sailor was the founder and owner of Versail Manufacturing, Sailor Manufacturing and Verns Quality Products. He was a member of the Bethel College and IMHA-RVIA boards, was past president of the MHI board and was a member of the RV/MH hall of fame.
He also served on the boards of directors for First National Bank and State Bank of Syracuse, was a member of the Baugo Lions Club and recently received the Golden Deeds Award from the Elkhart Noon Exchange Club. A U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Sailor also attended numerous missionary churches.
Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
