Obituary
ELKHART — Vernon E. Howard, 53, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, April 25, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 28, 1962, in Michigan City, to Eugene and Jessie (Grant) Howard.
Survivors include his wife, Syreeta D. Howard of Elkhart; three sons, Stephen, Nathanael and Levi Howard, all of Elkhart; one daughter, Jessica Howard of Dubuque, Iowa; siblings Vincent S. Grant, Pamela D. Howard, Phyllis (Frank) Miller, Andria Jarrett, Kanisha (Wesley) Scully, Harold Howard, J.C. (Crystal) Cooper, Clarence Ford and Michael Campbell; mother Jessie Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents; several uncles; one aunt; and one nephew, Dah Reus Howard.
Vernon will always be remembered for his excellent cooking, being a loving husband and father and friend to many.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 1:30 p.m. celebration of life service Saturday, May 7, at the House of Prayer Church of God in Christ, 1114 Cone St., Elkhart. The Rev. Andrew Murdock will officiate.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
