ELKHART — Una "Arlene" Hess, 83, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Center for Hospice Care Saturday, Feb. 25.
She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Elkhart, to John and Ona (Deuel) Arter.
She married the love of her life Noble J. "Bobo" Hess on May 2, 1953, in Elkhart. Noble passed recently on Jan. 5, 2017.
Surviving are daughters Vickie (James) Markle and Elizabeth Hess, both of Elkhart and Susan (Daniel) Bender of Union, Mich.; grandchildren Scott, Holly, Jennifer and Tomi; great-grandchildren Paige, Zachary, Austin, Alix, Madeleine, Owen and Peyton; and great-great-granddaughter Adalynn.
She was preceded in death by brothers Earl, Ray, John and Richard Arter and sisters Florence Shelton, Kathleen Reynolds, Marion Simonson, Myrtle Stack and Lorraine Fergison.
Arlene retired from CTS Corp. after 35 years of service.
She was a member of the Esther Rebekah Lodge in Bristol and Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Arlene enjoyed reading and cooking, but her most special times were with family and grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends for Arlene will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St.
Services celebrating her life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at the funeral home, with additional visitation one hour prior.
The Rev. Steve Reshan of Augustana Lutheran Church will officiate.
In honoring her wishes, cremation will follow with burial in a later date in Prairie Street Cemetery.
