GOSHEN — Tyler R. Smith, 28, of Goshen, passed away at his home following a sudden illness at 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018.
He was born July 12, 1989, in Elkhart, to Dennis J. "Denny" and Cynthia D. "Cindi" (Stoner) Smith, who survive him in Goshen.
Also surviving are his brother, Adam J. Smith of Goshen; grandmother Ruth Stoner of Middlebury and his "Aunt JuJu" Judy Adams, also of Middlebury.
A host of loving extended family and special friends survive as well.
Tyler was preceded by grandparents, Harry Stoner and Albert and Phyllis Smith, cousins Gary "G.T." and Tracy Smith, and uncle Ray Adams.
Tyler's life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
Bishop Chester Gibson of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints will officiate and burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Elkhart.
Tyler worked for his father's local RV salvage company for nearly 15 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to cheer on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
He also had a big heart, especially for children, and would do anything to make a person's day better.
Memorial donations may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in memory of his cousin, Gary "G.T." Smith or to Riley's Hospital for Children in Indianapolis in memory of Beth Ann Gibson.
