ELKHART — Troy O. Cameron, 51, of Elkhart, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Hospice House of Elkhart.
He was born Nov. 30, 1960, in Coldwater, Mich., to the late Climis O. and Carol A. (Hoover) Cameron.
He is survived by two daughters, Jessica Cameron of Florida and Christina Cameron of Bristol; sons Chris Cameron of North Carolina and Nic Cameron of Fort Wayne; sister Cheryl Cameron of Elkhart; brother Randy R. (Laura) Cameron of Elkhart; and friend and caregiver David Zimmerman of Mishawaka.
He is also survived by his stepmother, Carolyn Cameron of Elkhart; half-brother Matthew (Audie) Cameron of Elkhart; nephews and neices Jordan, Madelyn, Elijah and Alivia, all of Elkhart; stepbrother David Phares of Niles, Mich.; stepsister Donna (Ron) Alwine of Elkhart; stepneice Rashelle; great-stepneice Kenzie; aunt Shirley (Carl) Terry of Houston; and cousins Tina of Houston, Tammy of Nashville, Tenn., and David of Scottsboro, Ala.
Troy worked in modular housing in the Elkhart area for many years, including Parkwood Mobile Homes and Hi-Tech Housing.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 54th Infantry Division from 1980 until his honorable discharge in 1983.
Troy enjoyed drawing, especially the Gothic genre.
Troy's death is a reminder of how short life can be. He will be remembered with love. May God bless and keep Troy.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation took place at Altera Cremation Services under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home. Graveside services were held Friday in the veterans section at Prairie Street Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard.
