Obituary

Ms. Trixie Jane Hawley, 74, of Goshen, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 12:04 am at Golden Living Center in Elkhart following an extended illness. She was born on July 17, 1947 in Harbor Beach, Michigan to the late Earl and Thelma (Horton) Arntz.

Surviving Trixie are her sons Scott D. (Courtney) Hawley of Mooresville and Mark (Renee Chesterfield) Hawley of Goshen; grandchildren Alexis (Ryan) Schrock, Jaimee Hawley and Cheyenne, Ethan and Pierce Van Gundy; great grandchildren Lucas and Anthony Schrock and a loving host of extended family, good friends, helpful neighbors and a couple of employers over the years named David and Dennis, who resigned themselves to let Trixie run their lives for the time she was working with them.

Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart is hosting a memorial gathering of family and friends at their facility on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 4-6 pm. While no formal services are taking place, folks coming to pay their respects are encouraged to share their stories and memories of Trixie with the family.

Trixie worked many years in administration with a receivership firm, but her true loves were her family and her independence. Her boys would say that she was an amazing mom and appreciated the time she spent with the grands and great-grandchildren. She provided an excellent environment at home and always made sure that no one had to go without, no matter what the item. As Scott and Mark grew older and pursued their own families, Trixie began her second love affair with her independence. She was absolutely thrilled that she alone was in charge of her own destiny, so she filled her life with things that made her happy. Again, her sons would say that she was "directionally motivated"! She enjoyed crocheting, watching home renovation shows, maintaining her flower garden full of lovely tulips, peonies and daffodils, and painting, mostly in acrylic.

Friends and family wishing to make a monetary donation in Trixie's memory may do so by donating to the charity of one's choice.
