ELKHART — Tonya R. Shay, 41, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, in her residence.
She was born May 13, 1973, in Elkhart to Laverne Chupp and Kathleen Shay.
Survivors include one daughter, Katey Lee Shay of Elkhart; brother William "Billy" Wallace of Elkhart; father Laverne Chupp of White Pigeon, Mich.; aunt Kathryn (McCreary) Arwood, cousins Lisa (Timothy) Smith, Trina (Casey) Schult and Frankie McCreary, aunt Sue (James) Farr, cousin Randy Warman and uncle Justin Holmes, all of Elkhart; uncle Kenneth (Marva) Shay of Goshen; aunt Dottie Kell of Junction City, Kan.; cousins Denver (Kelly) Kell of Junction City and Donnie Kell, Kansas City, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen R. Shay; her grandmother, LaVilla L. Shay; and her grandfather, Robert F. Shay.
She enjoyed listening to country music, dancing, camping and especially spending time with family and friends. She loved and adored her 8-year-old daughter, Katey Lee, more than anything.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, and for an hour prior to the 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with funeral expenses.
