ELKHART — Todd B. Swinehart, 42, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly while visiting the Goshen home of his sister at 9:32 p.m.Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017.

He was born May 6, 1975, in Elkhart, to Bruce A. Swinehart and Debra J. (Pete) Carpenter Russell, all of Elkhart.

Surviving are his son, Brant Todd Swinehart of Elkhart; former parent-in-laws, Mike and Beth Personett of Elkhart; sister Melissa A. (Brandon C.) Dierickx  of Goshen; stepbrothers Travis J. (Jennifer) and London L. (Pamela) Russell; grandmother Phyllis J. Wysong; and former spouses Marianne (Coleman) Davis and Julie Swinehart. All are from Elkhart. Also surviving are a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including Beau, Chandler and Addison Dierickx.

Preceding Todd in death were his grandparents, Betsy and Richard Swinehart, Robert Carpenter and Wilbur "Windy" Wysong.

In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place.

However, a memorial celebration of Todd's life will be at the Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene, 57415 Alpha Drive, Goshen, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 6 p.m there.

Pastor Tim Fisher will officiate, and Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with the arrangements.

Todd worked as a mechanic at Swinehart's Service in Elkhart for more than 24 years and had begun attending Crossroads Community Church.

A former Concord baseball team Golden Glove Letterman from the class of 1993, he was also a very enthusiastic and talented baseball and softball player, and coached several Concord Little League teams over the years.

During this time, he passed the love and skill of the game on to many young men, including Kyle Rucker, Chandler Dierickx and his son, Brant.

When he wasn't working, playing ball or watching his Chicago Cubbies on TV, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his tons of great friends.
