Obituary

Mr. Todd Lee Osborn, 31, of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at his home near Shavehead Lake.

Born in Elkhart on March 24, 1993, Todd was the cherished son of Jeanette M. (Dallas) Osborn Barnhart of Union, Michigan, and David L. (Jeremy McCord) Osborn of Elkhart. Along with his loving parents, Todd leaves behind his brother Troy (Brenda) Osborn of Cassopolis, Michigan, his doting grandparents Marlin & Barbara Osborn of Cassopolis, and Marion & Pauline Konkle of Union. He also leaves behind his cousin and self-proclaimed "sister from another mister," Brooke A. Drennin of Elkhart, and his furry, brown kitty Ladybird, who held the esteemed title of supreme ruler of Todd's home.

Todd joins his cousins Tim Chew and Matt Stow in the next great adventure beyond this life.

His family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart on Thursday, October 10, 2024, with visitation from 2-4 PM and again from 6-8 PM. The following day, a funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Chapel Hill Missionary Church, 14525 Chapel Hill Street, Union, Michigan, with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Pastor Jeff Snider will lead the service, after which Todd's wishes for cremation will be honored.

Todd worked as an electrician at Forest River in Elkhart, where he was known for his friendly nature and infectious smile, making many friends along the way. But his true passion lay in the great outdoors, especially in the creatures of wetlands—frogs, turtles, and all things scaly or slimy. From a young age, he was known to sneak critters into the house, not so much for the sake of study as for the chance to ruffle his mom's feathers. One of his family's favorite stories involves him bottle-feeding a baby opossum.

He was a free spirit, savoring the world around him—whether he was kayaking through winding rivers, camping in remote spots, or simply lying back in a field, watching the clouds drift by. And he had a penchant for the simpler pleasures of life, too; a hearty meal followed by a long nap was often the perfect way to make Todd happy. His love for life shone through his laughter, his willingness to help others, and his spontaneous dance moves whenever music played.

To Todd, everyone he met was a friend, and he truly lived by the motto "Carpe Diem," seizing each day with unbridled enthusiasm and warmth. He will be remembered for his gentle soul, his love for all living creatures, and his ability to find joy in the simplest of moments.

Memorial donations may be made to Todd's family to assist with various expenses at their venmo account at  @henneybrenda91. The family is hoping, among other things, to fund an engraved paving brick in honor of Todd's "herpetological philanthropy" at the Potawatomi Zoo.
