ELKHART — Thomas Herschel Shalley Jr., 84, of Elkhart, passed away of natural causes at 11:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart.

He was born in Mishawaka on Aug. 28, 1929, to the late Thomas H. Shalley Sr. and Marian (Miller) Schoof.

Surviving are his children, Thomas (Debbie) and Kevin Shalley, both of Elkhart and Rebecca Gattman of San Antonio; sisters Barbara Evans, Joy (Les) Anderson, Mary Walters, Mona Bush and Sue Hendrickson; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as his former spouse and friend, Lula L.( Sargent) Shalley.

He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy A. Shalley and a daughter, Vicky Schultz.

A memorial service will be at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at with visitation beginning one hour prior. Pastor Stan Hoover will officiate. In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Tom worked at Alcan Aluminum of Elkhart as a millwright and maintenance person for nearly 25 years. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
