Thomas Edward Ruhling of Elkhart passed away in Goshen on Thursday, August 17, 2023 after an extended illness.

Tom was born March 20, 1937 in Elkhart to Paul and Winifred (Reames) Ruhling.

In 1961 Tom married Beverly Tice in South Bend, who survives. Together they have three children: Michele (Jeff) Radkey of Middlebury, Michael (Julie) Ruhling of Jonesville, MI and Marc Ruhling of Goshen. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Beth (Matt) Griggs, Matthew (Allyce) Cripe, Kellin (Morgan) Cripe, Brenton (Abigayil) Cripe, Alexander (Courtney) Ruhling, Peter Ruhling, Nicholas Ruhling, and eight great grandchildren.

In 1995 he married Nancy (Long) Morris, who preceded him in death.

Tom loved baseball, music, genealogy, rescue pets, and local history, with special interest in the Underground Railroad.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margaret, and his wife Nancy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 6-7 p.m. with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, 405 W Beardsley Ave, Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Tom DeFries officiating. A Private Burial will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Elkhart County Humane Society, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and Heart to Heart Hospice.
