ELKHART — Thomas Dean Ostrom, 60, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, in his home after an extended battle with muscular dystrophy.
He was born Dec. 3, 1951, in Elkhart to the late Henry D. Ostrom and Ellen E. (Jetter) Stephenson.
Survivors include a son, Barry Ostrom of Edwardsburg, Mich.; and three brothers, Dale (Jan) Ostrom, Kenneth (Joyce) Ostrom and Brian (Stephanie) Ostrom, all of Elkhart.
Thomas served in the U.S. Army from 1971 until 1974 and was stationed in Korea.
He was formerly employed with the Gunite Corporation prior to being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.
Thomas enjoyed spending time fishing, watching Notre Dame football and Clint Eastwood movies.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in Prairie Street Cemetery Veterans Towers. The U.S. Army and DAV 19 will render military graveside honors.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
