CHICAGO — Thomas Richard Libertone, 55, of Chicago, passed away peacefully at 9:40 a.m. Oct. 24, 2012.
Thomas was born Feb. 1, 1957, in New York, the youngest child of the late Andrew J. and Marie M. Libertone of Elkhart, Ind.
Tom moved to Elkhart in 1966 and attended St. Thomas the Apostle School.
Tom graduated from Elkhart High School in 1974 and Indiana University in 1979 with a degree in accounting.
Prior to his death, Tom worked for Oshkosh Corporation, Chicago.
Tom lost his courageous battle with brain cancer at Season's Hospice, Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Tom left his beloved Chicago at peace, surrounded by faith, comfort and unconditional love from his family and lifelong friends.
Tom is survived by his brother, Andrew (Jennifer) Libertone of Denver; his sister, Kathryn (Phillip) Northrop of Chandler, Ariz.; nieces Allison Mant of Denver and Eve Libertone of San Francisco; nephews Charles Northrop of San Diego and Alan Libertone of Denver; and many extended family members and friends.
Graveside services will be at noon Friday, April 26, 2013, in Rice Cemetery, 400 James St., Elkhart. The Rev. William Sullivan will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.
