Thomas L. Huneryager, 92, of Goshen, IN passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Tom was born on September 15, 1931 to Paul Huneryager and Thelma (Brown) Huneryager. Tom was married to the love of his life, Jerrie Jo (Richard) Huneryager on August 18, 1951 in Elkhart.

Tom is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jerrie Jo Huneryager; his sons, Terry and Joseph; brothers, Roger and Kenneth Huneryager; sister, JoAnn Staley; and son-in-law, Michael Bridger.

Tom is survived by his children, Penny Huneryager, Karen (Mark) Renkiewicz, Christine (Jay) Martin, Timothy Huneryager, Susan Bridger, Janice (Christopher) Scroy and Robert (Michelle) Huneryager; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Tom graduated from Elkhart High School and went on to graduate from Goshen College. Tom taught Science in Edwardsburg Public Schools for 22 years, and had previously taught in Niles and Elkhart.

Tom coached flag football and basketball during his teaching years. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed playing cards and watching Westerns. He was an avid sports fan, especially his beloved University of Michigan Wolverines, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Tom was a history buff and loved reading.

Tom had a great sense of humor and brought laughter to his family and friends. He was patriotic and always stood for what is right and just.

Most of all, Tom loved the Lord, and his family meant the world to him.

A Funeral Service for Tom will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be directed to Right to Life or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
